To Kill A Mocking Bird

Every avid book lover in the world must have read this book.

And if you haven't read this timeless classic - then it is time to pick up a copy of this book and start reading.

To Kill A Mocking Bird is a book written by Harper Lee exactly 50 years back. This books deals with serious issues like racial inequality in America and rape - all of this through the eyes of a 10 year old girl.

In my personal opinion, Innocent narration is the hallmark of this book.

The book has been so famous across the USA and the world - that special celebrations are held across the world to mark its 50th anniversary.

Catch an interesting news article about these celebrations here.

Also catch up with some excellent quotes from this book.
Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.

Miss Maudie Atkinson to Scout, Chapter 10.

The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Atticus Finch, Chapter 11

When a child asks you something, answer him, for goodness' sake. But don't make a production of it. Children are children, but they can spot an evasion quicker than adults, and evasion simply muddles 'em.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Atticus Finch, Chapter 9.

You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view--until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.
