Philandering Presidents

Time and again, comes a President, a Prime Minister, or a massive Public or Political figure, who gets the tag of a "Philanderer".

Well, a Philanderer is a man who has an affair (commonly an extra marital affair) with a woman - sometimes with sexual overtones - but does not intend to marry her.

Being a public figure, these guys do meet a lot of people - attractive women being among them. 

Attractive women stand out, the President takes a liking towards them and sparks fly. The rest, as they say, is history!!

The President has a lot of power at his disposal and he thinks he can carry out this fling and manage to keep it a secret (with all the Presidential Men at his service).

As for the girl - commonly an ordinary girl with stunning looks - she is in the company of an ultra powerful figure. This gives her a high and she has nothing to lose.

What makes me think about all of this?

Well, it is the news of Barack Obama, the current president of the United States of America, having an affair with his aide - Vera Baker.

So whats the allegation?

If news articles are to be believed,  this is what they have got to say...

The National Enquirer claims Obama and Baker, a former campaign aide, holed up at Washington, D.C. hotel, and a "security video" could expose everything!

According to the celebrity gossip tabloid, a limo driver (anonymous of course) claims he drove Vera to a secret hotel rendezvous with the President.

And who is Vera Baker?

Baker is an aide of Obama. She played a key role in getting Obama elected to the U.S. Senate, way back in 2004. And supposedly, they grew close since!!

And whats her take on this allegation?

As usual, Vera Baker insists that "nothing happened" between them.

As of now the news in just in gossip stage. But you never know - these kind of things have a habit on being true. And many a times, all his opponents - the political opponents, the ones from the media et all - will make every attempt to dig out the truth and take him down.

If some of them like to keep such kind of things a secret, you have others who don't even mind it being public.

I'm referring to the Italian Prime Minister - Silvio Berlusconi.

He is all of 74 years, but has a roving eye - to say the least. 

His wife had accused him of choosing young, attractive lady candidates - with little or zero political experience - in the 2009 Parliamentary elections. Berlusconi can possibly justify the reason - which are more likely to be selfish.

And if this was not enough, he was also accused of attending the birthday party of a 18 year old girl - Noemi Letizia.

Just after this, his wife divorced him - saying she "cannot remain with a man who consorts with minors" and "is not well".

And what did the girl herself have to say? 

As per the Italian press, she calls Berlusconi "papi" ("daddy"), that they often spent time together in the past, and that Berlusconi would take care of her career as showgirl or politician, whichever she opted to pursue.

A decade back, it was the then U.S. President - Bill Clinton - in news for all his "wrong doings". 

He had an affair with a young White House intern - Monica Lewinsky. Clinton, as usual, denied the affair for a long time. 

But when the heat became unbearable,  he had to accept that he had lied.

He agreed that he had had an "improper physical relationship" with Lewinsky. This resulted in his impeachment - the second one in the history of the U.S.

These are the few among the many people who have "earned" the tag of a "Philanderer".

Only time will tell whether Obama goes the Clinton way.

Till then, Mr. Obama - keep your "Blinker's On" - lest you may end up in the same soup as Mr. Clinton or Mr. Berlusconi.
